Description

Grid couplings are flexible couplings that reduce vibrations by up to 30% and dampen shock loads to protect drive and driven equipment. The flexible nature of the grid absorbs impact energy by distributing it over time, reducing the magnitude of peak loads. This is made possible by the progressive contact between the curved profile of the hub teeth and the flexible grid. Thus, as the load increases, more teeth come into contact with the grid, enabling better protection and performance.

Grid couplings have been designed for maximum versatility. Standard hubs and grids are used with various models of vertical and horizontal sectioned covers. The grid can be installed and replaced quickly and easily.

HIGH-QUALITY MANUFACTURING

Made from high-tensile-strength steel alloy, the grid spring is carefully manufactured and then hardened and tempered under controlled conditions. The grids are then shot-blasted, compressing the molecules on the surface and leaving a residually stressed surface. This process creates a surface that is more resistant to compression. Any load applied to the coupling during operation must first overcome the compressive forces created by shot peening before the tension reaches the grid. This dramatically increases strength compared to other couplings, which in turn increases reserve strength to extend service life, allowing smaller couplings to be selected, with the resulting cost savings.
