Description

Jaw couplings are available in the widest variety of combinations of internal diameters and keyways. These couplings do not require lubrication and provide excellent and reliable services in applications of light, medium and heavy electric motors, and internal combustion power transmissions.

Important characteristics
  • Fail-safe: will continue to work even if the elastomer fails
  • No contact between metals
  • Resistant to oil, dirt, sand, moisture and grease
  • More than 850,000 combinations of sizes of internal diameters
  • Availability in stock of the vast majority of models

Applications include the transmission of power to industrial equipment such as pumps, gearboxes, compressors, blowers, mixers and conveyor belts. Jaw couplings come in 24 different sizes, from a minimum torque of 0.4 Nm to a maximum torque of 19,209 Nm, and a variety of internal diameters from 0.125 inches (4.45 mm) to 7 inches (178 mm). The standard internal diameters program includes internal diameter / key DIN combinations.

Normally, Jaw couplings consist of two hubs (available in sintered metal, aluminum, bronze, steel, stainless steel and ductile iron) and an elastomeric element, known as a star (available in materials such as NBR SOX rubber, urethane, Hytrel® and bronze).

Type L - Standard Jaw couplings

The coupling of normative axis of the sector
Fail-safe (will still work even if elastomer fails)
Maximum inside diameter: 2,875 inches (73 mm)
Maximum torque: 1412 Nm

Type AL - Aluminum Jaw couplings
  • Lightweight aluminum version of the standard shaft coupling
  • Resistant to corrosion (inner diameters with passivated finish for greater protection)
  • Maximum inside diameter: 1,875 inches (48 mm)
  • Maximum torque: 256 Nm

Type SS - Jaw stainless steel couplings
  • Stainless steel version of the shaft coupling that is the norm of the sector
  • Compatible with cube lines L and AL (except model AL150)
  • Max. Inner diameter: 1,875 inches (48 mm)
  • Maximum nominal torque: 419 Nm

Type SW - radially removable elastomer
  • Standard Type L coupling with radially removable elastomer
  • Fail-safe The open center allows a minimum separation of the shaft
  • Limit of 1,750 rpm (for higher limits, see Type LC)
  • Max. Inner diameter: 2,125 inches (55 mm)

Type RRS / RRSC - radially removable spacer coupling
  • Coupling with detachable center for proper separation
  • Radially removable elastomers (easy installation and maintenance)
  • Pump shafts / standard US motors and Europe
  • Separator in plastic reinforced with fiberglass, cast iron or aluminum
